Work commences at Dukinfield Unitarian Chapel

Works have commenced at Dukinfield Unitarian Chapel, with Heritage Conservation Restoration Ltd carrying out both internal and external repairs. The contract value is £390,000, giving an indication of the scope of the project.

The external repairs involve the renewal of all the high-level slating and lead work, new cast iron gutters, stonemasonry repairs and repointing works.

Internally, extensive dry rot repairs are required to the vaulted ceiling construction. This includes the complete renewal of the lime plastered ribs, all of which are being made on site by Heritage. Due to the complex nature of the project, intricate plaster works and careful planning is needed to ensure there is no damage to the structure.

The architects are Lloyd Evans Prichard and the project is part funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and is expected to last approximately 32 weeks.

TESTIMONIALS

Heritage Conservation Restoration replaced part of our church roof. The standard of workmanship, the regard for health and safety, the understanding of heritage requirements was excellent and the company and workforce were flexible, responsive and imaginative when unexpected issues were identified during the course of the project. They worked hard to make sure that disruption to the life of the church was kept to a minimum. We would be very happy to engage them for future projects.

The whole Chancel area was re-decorated & new carpeting laid. The completed work…

In the absence of funds from the Local Authority (Ribble Valley Borough Council) to carry out urgent repair works to a Grade II Listed monument in the Clitheroe Castle Gardens, CCS decided to step in and see if they could raise sufficient funds to carry out the works on behalf of RVBC - and the wider community. The monument came from the Palace…
